Land Claiming with Dynmap Signs

Use Dynmap signs to mark your builds and let others know what’s yours. It’s a simple way to show what’s out there, invite visitors, and make the world feel more connected.

Ever wondered how those cool little markers pop up on the Dynmap? Whether you're claiming a base, spotlighting a build, or just leaving your mark, this guide shows you how to create Dynmap marker signs that show up right on the live map.

🪧 How It Works

Dynmap can automatically convert specially formatted signs into visible markers on the map. These are visible to anyone using the Dynmap website, and they're a great way to help others find builds, landmarks, or points of interest.

✍️ How to Create a Marker Sign

To place a Dynmap marker, you’ll need to format a sign like this:

[dynmap]
Label of your marker
icon: <marker_name>

Line-by-line breakdown:

  • Line 1: [dynmap] — Must be exact (including brackets). This tells Dynmap it's a marker sign.
  • Line 2: The label or name of your marker (e.g., “Dilly’s Lair” or “My Base”)
  • Line 4 (Optional): This line is option and allows you to update the icon use on the map. Replace <marker_name> with the name of the icon you wish to use

📍 Tips and Best Practices

  • Be concise with your marker names, they appear as text on the map.
  • You can conceal the sign in walls or the basement of you base if you don't want it on display.
  • You can remove a marker simply by breaking the sign.
  • Keep it respectful, no offensive names or spammy signs.

🔍 Common Uses:

  • Marking player bases
  • Tagging community projects
  • Designating meeting spots, nether tunnels, or farms
