Player vs Player (PVP) Rules
👉 TL;DR: PVP on PlanB is by agreement only.
This rule ensures players can play, build, and explore comfortably, without the constant risk of being randomly attacked or killed while going about their business. Players may be carrying valuable items, high levels, or simply be focused on a task and should not have that progress lost to unexpected PVP.
The PVP Waiver
While agreement-only PVP is essential for allowing players to build, mine, and explore without disruption, we recognise that some players enjoy higher-risk gameplay. This can include features such as assassin shops, bounties, pranks, or opt-in hostile interactions.
To support this style of play without impacting others, PlanB uses a PVP waiver system, that can be found on Discord.
By opting into the waiver, a player voluntarily gives up their protection from unagreed PVP only against other players who have also opted in.
Opting in is a deliberate choice. If you are unsure, you should not opt in. You can opt out at any time.
What Opting In Allows
If both players are opted into the PVP waiver, the following applies:
- Either player may initiate PVP without asking first
- Either player may kill or be killed by the other
- No prior consent is required at the moment of engagement
This applies regardless of location, gear, inventory, or situation. Although precautions where possible to be taken to reduce the risk of loss of stuff.
What Opting In Does Not Allow
Opting into the PVP waiver does not grant permission to attack everyone.
- You may only engage in PVP with other players who are also opted in
- You may never attack a player who is not on the waiver list
- Assumptions, guesses, or “I thought they were opted in” are not valid
If there is any doubt, do not engage.
Keep It In Good Faith
Regardless of whether the PVP waiver has been opted into, or both players have mutually agreed to PVP in in-game chat, all PVP interactions must be carried out in good faith.
PVP on PlanB is intended to be optional, controlled, and enjoyable, not hostile or destructive.
When engaging in PVP, the following principles apply:
- PVP should be conducted for mutual enjoyment, not to harass, grief, or frustrate another player
- If it becomes clear that the interaction is no longer fun or welcome for either party, you should disengage
- Reasonable care must be taken to avoid destroying another player’s property, builds, or gear, including items and structures in the surrounding area
- Consent matters at all times. If a player clearly asks you to stop, you must cease immediately, regardless of waiver status or prior agreement
Failure to act in good faith may result in moderation action, even if all technical PVP requirements were met.
CONSENT
Consent always overrides any PVP status.
If you no longer want PVP to continue, stop fighting back and clearly state in in-game chat that you want it to stop, for example:
“I no longer want to fight, please stop.”
At this point, the other player must cease immediately.
If they fail to stop, leave the game and submit a support ticket to the team.
